Our creator.....MC Linzee

"Linzee weaves rhyme, spoken word, and vocals into the live DJ mixes. She doesn't assert herself over the mix-unlike perhaps, the more ego-driven of her male counterparts, but blends seamlessly with the track. In fact, without glancing at the booth, it's hard to tell there is an MC at all".--Knowledge Magazine/Nov 2002-UK.

Co-founder of Sister SF and Sister NYC, Linzee has worked hard to develop female talent across the US and beyond by exposing, managing and promoting up and coming female DJs. As a MC and Vocalist, She has caught the eye of the press such as Knowledge Magazine UK, NY Post and XLR8R for her unique microphone style that fuses MCing, scatting, rhyming as well as singing along side various styles of electronic music including her first love, drum 'n' bass and most recently breaks! Her vocals have also been aired on the CBS/March Madness special in 2003.

Linzee has moved on to join the local punk/pop band called "The Pervs" as thier lead singer and promoter. "The Pervs are an inspiring and debaucherous 80's rock/new wave/heavy metal outfit led by the ex-drum'n'bass luminary MC Linzee. Village Voice review published 8/16/06

"This local band brings punk back to its purest form in an all-out rock and roll love fest. Known for their crass lyrics, guitar crunch, and risqué dance moves that often involve singer Linzee Butta writhing on the floor, the audience gets a 365-degree experience of what it means to “get pervy.” The Clash, Sex Pistols and Sonic Youth are just some of the band’s influences. “Pervy is subtle while smashing it in your face,” McGonigle says. “It’s being sophisticatedly bawdy.” And of course, sexy. The band has earned catcalls, hoots and hollers from fans at The Knitting Factory, Don Hill’s, and the international music festival Emergenza. To let go of your inhibitions, join these rockers at their next show". AM NY 2007

Her August 2004 performance recieved press coverage in the NY Times for her performance with the Decadance dance company at the Fringe Festival. Linzee MC'd her original lyrics live over beats in the production of "Decadance vs. Firebird".

Currently Linzee is producing her own tracks under the monikers Lynz and Lynzer Perv as well as working with producer IBU600 in San Francisco.

Resident vocalist....Rhiannon

It was 1994, in the warehouses and deserts of the Southern California underground that Rhiannon discovered her passion for electronic music, first in the early jungle, hardcore, and house scenes. Bearing witness to a full spectrum of the creative and destructive potentials of dance culture, she resolved to become an organizer and take matters into her own hands.
Back in NYC, she did just that, first throwing events on her own and later becoming the Music Director of The Lunatarium. Together with a small group of inspired and ambitious urban visionaries, she helped turn a 20,000 sq. ft. raw riverfront warehouse into one of the highest-profile underground venues in the nation. Managing the space as well as producing the majority of events, the crew received a "Best US Dance Music Venue" nomination by the Dancestar American Dance Music Awards in 2003 as well as being featured in a VH1 documentary. At Luna, Rhiannon had the privilege of working and performing alongside multitudes of the nation's most well known and respected production companies, artists, and publications and hosting some of the hottest domestic and international talent.

In addition to singing with award-winning choirs for most of her life, Rhiannon has always held an interest in teaching herself to break the rules of vocal conformity by experimenting with improvisation and fusing together the many styles of music that she loves. Her influences include blues, jazz, classic rock, IDM, trip-hop, hip-hop, jungle, punk rock, industrial, experimental, and indigenous rhythms from around the world. Over the years, she has sung and performed in Spanish, Latin, Portuguese, Quechua, German, Italian, French, Hindi, Gaelic, and Czech. She is known for her ability to connect with the essence of a song and compliment it with vocals that both stand out and blend in to create a harmonious mix. That's why DJ Element dubbed her the "Vocal Chameleon." But despite this ability to reflect a multitude of styles and moods, her personal voice is never lost. Soulful and evocative, dark and dream-like yet energetic and uplifting, her personal style is inspired by the contradictions and bitter sweetness of life. She is currently focusing her talent on live PA sets, live vocals with DJs, studio work, and coaching other aspiring artists.

Rhiannon is also a drummer, poet, photographer, visual artist, consultant, and freelance journalist. Her music reviews have appeared in The New York Times, her poetry in The Los Angeles Times, her music on CBS, and her photography in publications and press kits. In Santa Barbara, she co-founded an art center for urban youth that used mural painting as an alternative form of gang mediation. In the South Bronx, she taught "Literacy Through the Arts" to elementary school students, helping them to find and value their voice and designing the prototype for a youth-run newsletter. She created the graffiti wall in the Busta Rhymes / M.O.P. video "Ante Up," as well as being featured in the video. And in Santa Cruz, Rhiannon was a staff music and arts writer for a local newspaper and a staff news reporter for radio station KZSC.
Currently Rhiannon is working on several independent music projects, writing, singing, and beginning to produce. Her track "12 Step Amethyst" [produced by Prima Dona] was released independently in the spring of 2004 as part of an art book and CD called "Lavender". She is a resident of Brooklyn, but if she were stuck on a desert island, the three things she would need to survive would be: a big blank book, a djembe, and a fat roll of duct tape.

RHIANNON is a sought after vocalist known for her conscious lyrics and a passionate voice that blends speakeasy-era jazz with timeless revolutionary fire. She's worked with Antibalas, Ming & FS, and countless underground DJs, and shared bills with the likes of Matthew Dear, DJ Spooky, & Doc Martin. A dedicated organizer of underground culture, she served as Music Director for the legendary Lunatarium, and now for the TheDanger.com (Complacent) and massive sound clash festivals on the streets of NYC.

Resident DJ......Strife

Music is her life. Drum and Bass is her passion. Erica Munday, A.K.A. DJ Strife, has had a love for music for aslong as she can remember. It’s that feeling that when you close your eyes and simply listen…the whole world disappears. Strife’s involvement in the U.S. underground music scene started back in 1994 when she was only 14 and attended her first rave. After this one night she knew right then that this music was something that truly touched her soul and would be a part of her life forever. She soon thereafter was going to every event on the east coastthat she could, which eventually lead her to her next natural step…promoting.

he started promoting for one of the largest event companies on the east coast, Park Rave Maddness. And by the time she was 16 she had made enough contacts in the scene and wanted to continue going forward by learning how toDJ – to be that person that controlled the crowd’s inner feelings by taking you on a journey with the music they wove together. At first by playing fast-paced Hard Trance and Hard Acid music that got the crowd going, but eventually at 19 while in college in New York for Audio Recording, switched to hergrowing love for Drum and Bass.2003 brought the way of House DJ, Fame and his Simply Bangin’ Productions which merged Strife and Fame together for combined efforts in weekly eventsin NYC.

By joining a night of House and Drum and Bass music this allowed them to bring both styles of music together in one place. Also in 2003 Strife got linked up withall female crew Sister NYC (the NYC chapter of successful San Francisco group). Right away this combination of all genre woman DJ’s and MC’s connected with her, and knew together they could really make a dent in furthering woman and their place in Electronic music.Being interviewed for Los Angeles collective Technotreff’s nationally distributed“Girls of Techno” DVD also gave her a chance to speak her mind on the empowermenton being a female DJ. Hosting and playing at events all the way from New York to Miami to Brazil to Germany to London and back again, Strife continues topush the Drum and Bass sound that she strives for everyone to hear and feel.

Strife's flow of Liquid Drum and Bass sounds infused with Brazillian flavor and vocal tunes make her track selection stream together with each blended mix. As well as being endorsed by keyboard company Korg, Strife has performed all over nationally and internationally at such events as the DEMF, Detroit Electronic Music Festival, at renowned UK monthlies "Therapy Sessions" & “Metric”, and touring in Brazil and Germany alongside heavyweights such as High Contrast, Bad Company, Dylan, Loxy, & B Key, Patife, Andy, Drumagick, and Mickey Finn.In addition, she has taken part at conventions in Nashville, TN for the NAMM show, at Madison Square Garden in her residence of NY for product demos, and in Miami for the WMC, Winter Music Conference, with Sister USA.
